ANSWER: How can I get the "Other Views" on the robe pages to work?
The other views are mouseover effects. To access them: Place your mouse over the smaller picture, and it will appear in place of the existing picture. NOTE: If you have a slow connection (i.e.; 56k modem) then you might have to wait a while for the pictures to load.
ANSWER: How do I order a robe?
Ordering a robe is simple. On the desired robe page (Black or Brown) click on the available buttons labeled either "Short", "Medium", or "Long" (on the black robe page, the buttons are red, whereas on the brown robe page, the buttons are blue). If you want to use a money order to purchase your robe, view the FAQ entitled: Can I pay with a money order, and if so, where do I send it?
ANSWER: How long has OuterRobes.com been in business?
The concept behind OuterRobes has been around since 1999, however it took another three years to form it into a reality. The OuterRobes.com website has been functioning since 2002, and has been through a lot of changes. Each change brings us closer to providing better customer satisfaction to all who choose to buy their robe here at OuterRobes.com. In the near future some changes to our site will include new robe designs, and expanded shipping zones.
ANSWER: Where and when do you auction off robes?
There are a variety of reasons why we auction off robes. If a robe has a small flaw in it, we will auction it off as a "seconds" (although this rarely happens), or if we have a limited edition robe (a style that we do not normally carry) we will put it up for auction. Most of the time we put up auctions on eBay as a way of advertising. For whatever the reason, if we auction off a robe we will list it on eBay with a great starting price.
ANSWER: Do you ship Internationally?
OuterRobes started shipping internationally in February of 2007. We ship to Europe, Canada, and Australia. Although not international shipping destinations, we want everyone to know that we also ship to Alaska, Hawaii and US Possessions, such as Puerto Rico (we charge domestic shipping rates for these locales).
ANSWER: What are my shipping options?
OuterRobes uses 3 different shipping methods from USPS; "USPS Priority Mail", "USPS Express Mail", & "USPS Priority Mail International". Priority Mail usually arrives within 2-4 days, and Express Mail usually arrives the next day, but sometimes takes one extra day due to the end user's routing location. International orders are shipped using Priority Mail International and on average take a couple of weeks to arrive at their destinations. If the robe gets stuck in Customs then it will, of course, take longer to arrive, however this rarely happens.
ANSWER: What's OuterRobes' turnaround time?
If you purchase a robe Sunday through Thursday, the turnaround time, or the time to complete the transaction and ship out your robe, is: 12 - 24 hours after payment is received. IF YOU PURCHASE a robe Friday or Saturday your robe will be sent out on Monday.
ANSWER: Who do you use to ship packages?
OuterRobes uses USPS for domestic and international shipping needs. They provide good reliable service at a reasonable rate.
ANSWER: Which robe will fit me?
The robes come in 3 different sizes (Short, Medium, Long) and the biggest difference between the 3 is how tall they are.
"SHORT" sized robes are ideally suited for someone around 5'6" (five foot, six inches)
"MEDIUM" sized robes are ideally suited for someone around 6'0" (six foot, zero inches)
"LONG" sized robes are ideally suited for someone around 6'6" (six foot, six inches)
The chest is very forgiving and accomodates most builds.
The robes have a waist of 60" - 62" inches in circumference.
ANSWER: Do I want the robe to drag?
That's a personal decision, though the following may help you decide...
Fabric that drags on the ground gets dirtier quicker and wears out faster. If you want to have a robe drag on the ground be sure you practice walking in it a lot (very easy to trip yourself with an excessively long robe). Many field cloaks and field robes are 2 to 3 inches above the ground, which helps the wearer move better and more freely.
ANSWER: What do the sizes: "Short, Medium and Long" refer to?
The sizes DO NOT refer to the robe's circumference (girth), but rather refer to the differences in the heights between the sizes.
"SHORT" sized robes are ideally suited for someone around 5'6" (five foot, six inches)
"MEDIUM" sized robes are ideally suited for someone around 6'0" (six foot, zero inches)
"LONG" sized robes are ideally suited for someone around 6'6" (six foot, six inches)
ANSWER: Are there any differences between the Dark and Traditional Series?
The only difference is the color. Both robes are created from the same pattern and feature the "Five Differences" spoken of in the "WHY BUY HERE" page.
ANSWER: Do the robes come with neck closures?
No, they don't. Here's why: Every person's body structure is different. We did not include a closure because of this fact. Some people might want the closure in a different place, or even adjusted tighter or looser. Others might not like the look of the closure or not even want one entirely.

So rather than have most people re-sew, or even discard their closure, we opted to not include one. It also helps keep costs low, and the results are reflected in the price.
ANSWER: What do you recommend for keeping the robe closed?
OuterRobes recommends using small high-powered magnets to keep the robe closed. There's a couple reasons why. First, the magnets can be positioned exactly where you want them, and secondly, they can be removed from the robe when you want the robe to be in the opened position. Some other manufacturers, fan-based and commercially based, use fasteners like 'hook and eyes' or loops in order to close their robes near the neckline. When the robe is opened these sewn-on additions create a real eye sore and detract from the overall appearance of the robe. And when not in use the magnets can be stored on your belt by affixing them to something metallic.
ANSWER: Why is "3 Seam Construction" important?
Having only a limited number of seams makes our robes look and flow better. The placing of the 3 main seams on the robe's body is done in such a way that it eliminates unneccessary seams, especially down the tops of the arms and at the shoulders. This results in a look that is more authentic.
ANSWER: Can I wash my robe?
Yes you can. Just keep the following in mind before doing so: Our robes are made of a heavyweight flannel material which means that they will "pill" when machine washed. "Pilling" is caused by the soft nap of the material collecting together and forming small "fuzzballs". If you wash your robe and want to reduce the "pilling" effect, iron the robe on high and use PLENTY OF STEAM. IMPORTANT NOTE: YOUR ROBE WILL SHRINK when machine washed! This shrinkage is anywhere from 2-4 inches. OuterRobes recommends "Spot Cleaning" with a mild soap and warm water.
ANSWER: Can I request my robe be a specific shade of brown?
We buy our fabric in bulk rolls of 100 yards a piece. Each roll comes from a dye lot specific to when we made our fabric purchase. These differing dye lots are just that, different. While all can be visually described as brown, they sometimes contain slight shade variations between the dye lots. This makes requesting shades of brown impossible.
ANSWER: What type of payment do you take?
OuterRobes takes Paypal and money orders. Paypal is used to accept credit card payments; these type of payments receive immediate processing.

ANSWER: Can I pay with a money order, and if so, where do I send it?
If you want to use a money order to buy a robe, you must first email OuterRobes (using our Email Form) and reserve the type of robe you are wanting to purchase.
Your robe will be held for about one week so you must mail payment in a timely manner. Upon receipt of your money order, your robe order will be processed.
REMEMBER TO INCLUDE with your money order, your desired "mail-to" address in a legible format.

WHERE DO YOU SEND IT?: You will receive an address after reserving your robe.

Robes that are paid for using Paypal get shipped out the next day. Due to our fast shipping policy please notify us immediately if you would like to cancel an order. If a robe has already been shipped you will have to send it back in order to get your payment refunded.
ANSWER: This robe doesn't fit me, can I exchange it for another?
Yes, you can exchange it, but there are certain criteria a robe needs to meet in order to qualify as an exchange or return...SEE "Does my robe qualify for being exchanged?" (see below). Also if you would like to exchange it for another you will have to pay for any additional shipping expenses. You can include a money order with the returned robe for your desired shipping method.
("USPS Priority Mail: $14.95"; "Express Mail: $29.95")
You can also paypal the shipping costs to OuterRobes if you so wish.

*All robes qualifying for refunds and exchanges MUST BE RETURNED NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS from the date when you received it.
ANSWER: Does my robe qualify for being exchanged?
If you find that your robe does not fit and you would like to exchange it for another or return it for a refund, it must fit the following criteria: The robe must be in "GOOD CONDITION"; free of dirt and moisture, with no rips, tears or scuffs in the fabric...In other words, it needs to be like how you got it. Please fold and package the robe well for it's "...journey to the Emperor." This helps eliminate unnecessary creases and wrinkles in the fabric.

*All robes qualifying for refunds and exchanges MUST BE RETURNED NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS from the date when you received it.
ANSWER: Does OuterRobes give refunds? (i.e.; Paypal, Money Order)
Of course we do. But your robe must qualify as a return (see above) in order to have a refund be issued. If you have paid via money order, a check will be sent out to you upon receipt of the qualifying returned robe. If it was by Paypal that you sent payment, your refund will be credited to your Paypal account upon receipt of the qualifying returned robe. NOTE: Refunds are subject to a 10% restocking fee. Shipping and handling charges are non-refundable. Please notify Master Ryan if you are going to be exchanging or returning your robe.

*All robes qualifying for refunds and exchanges MUST BE RETURNED NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS from the date when you received it.
ANSWER: Is there a restocking fee for refunds?
Yes, there is a 10% restocking fee. It's calculated from the cost of the robe minus the initial shipping and handling charges. It's only applied to refunds, not exchanges.
